Role Overview:
Reporting directly to the Accountable Manager, the Head of Line Maintenance is responsible for overseeing the entire line maintenance operation at various stations. This role ensures strict compliance with both internal company policies and external regulations, contributing significantly to the safety, reliability, and operational efficiency of the fleet. The Head of Line Maintenance plays a key role in maintaining Jambojet’s reputation for high safety standards, punctuality, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enforce safety and regulatory standards in all line maintenance operations, ensuring compliance with Jambojet’s AMO guidelines, internal policies, and aviation regulations.
- Develop and manage effective maintenance schedules, ensuring all tasks are completed on time and cost-effectively, with minimal disruption to flight operations.
- Lead the line maintenance teams in conducting both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to keep the fleet flight-ready.
- Analyze maintenance data to identify and address any operational inefficiencies, and promote continuous improvements in maintenance processes.
- Oversee routine inspections and maintenance tasks to guarantee airworthiness and safety.
- Maintain accurate, comprehensive maintenance records to comply with regulatory and company requirements.
- Enhance the quality control program to ensure the highest standards of aircraft maintenance.
- Optimize the use of maintenance personnel, tools, and facilities to maximize operational efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Lead the Maintenance Control Centre to prioritize and manage AOG aircraft, ensuring prompt return to service.
- Ensure adherence to occupational safety, health, and environmental standards, taking proactive measures to resolve quality and safety issues.
- Lead, mentor, and manage the maintenance team to ensure high performance and achievement of operational goals.
Required Expertise and Skills:
- Strong technical knowledge of aircraft systems, particularly those in the Jambojet fleet.
- Proven leadership skills with experience managing and coordinating maintenance operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead diverse teams and collaborate with multiple departments.
- Familiarity with aviation regulatory requirements, particularly KCAA standards, and experience with DHC-8-400 maintenance procedures.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and maintaining compliance with aviation regulations.
Problem-Solving Focus:
- Address unexpected maintenance challenges, manage resource constraints, and adapt to regulatory changes.
- Anticipate future maintenance needs and technology upgrades to continuously improve operations.
Accountability and Impact:
- Responsible for making key decisions in maintenance operations, particularly in areas related to safety and regulatory compliance.
- Directly influences Jambojet’s operational efficiency, safety standards, and compliance with aviation regulations.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Engineering or a related field from a recognized institution.
- At least 5 years of experience in line maintenance, particularly in a low-cost carrier environment.
- Relevant industry certifications and membership in professional aviation bodies are advantageous.
